Guru Gobind Singh Ji

Scholar and Warrior

Guru Gobind Singh Ji was a master of many languages, a brilliant poet, and a fearless warrior. He led his followers in defending themselves against severe oppression, while writing powerful literature to inspire courage and devotion.

Creation of the Khalsa

In 1699, he created the Khalsa Panth. He asked for five volunteers to give their heads for the Guru (the Panj Pyare). He initiated them with Amrit (sweetened water stirred with a sword) and gave Sikhs a distinct identity with the 5 Ks.

Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Before passing away in 1708, he commanded the Sikhs to look to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji as their eternal, living Guru. He finalized the holy scripture, ensuring its message would guide humanity forever.
